About the Role
We are seeking a talented and experienced Music A&R Manager to lead our artist and repertoire (A&R) department. As a Music A&R Manager, you will be responsible for discovering and developing new talent, overseeing artist signings, and guiding the creative direction of our music projects. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work closely with artists, songwriters, and producers to shape the future of our music catalog.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Scout and evaluate new talent through attending live performances, reviewing demos, and networking within the music industry
Cultivate relationships with artists, managers, and industry professionals to identify potential signings and collaboration opportunities
Negotiate and finalize record deals, publishing agreements, and licensing contracts with artists and their representatives
Provide creative direction and feedback to artists and producers throughout the recording process
Collaborate with marketing and promotion teams to develop and execute comprehensive artist development plans
Coordinate with legal and business affairs teams to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and copyright laws
Stay updated on industry trends, market demands, and emerging talent to maintain a competitive edge
Manage artist budgets, project timelines, and release schedules to maximize commercial success and artistic integrity
Serve as a liaison between artists and label executives, advocating for the artist's vision while aligning with company goals
Oversee the A&R department staff, including A&R coordinators and scouts, and provide mentorship and guidance as needed
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in music business, music production, or related field preferred
Proven experience as an A&R manager or A&R representative in the music industry
Strong network of contacts within the music industry, including artists, managers, agents, and publishers
Excellent ear for music and ability to identify hit potential and market trends
Negotiation skills and business acumen to secure favorable deals for artists and the label
Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities
Creative thinking and problem-solving skills
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines
Passion for music and commitment to nurturing artistic talent
Salary: $70,000 - $100,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
