About the Role
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Music A&R Director to lead our artist and repertoire (A&R) department. As a Music A&R Director, you will be responsible for overseeing the identification, signing, and development of talent, as well as guiding the creative direction of our music projects. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work with talented artists, producers, and songwriters to shape the future of our music roster.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Lead the A&R department in scouting, signing, and developing talented artists, songwriters, and producers
Cultivate relationships with artists, managers, agents, and industry professionals to identify potential signings and collaboration opportunities
Negotiate and finalize record deals, publishing agreements, and licensing contracts with artists and their representatives
Provide creative direction and feedback to artists and producers throughout the recording process
Collaborate with marketing and promotion teams to develop and execute comprehensive artist development plans
Oversee the production of music projects, ensuring artistic integrity and commercial viability
Stay updated on industry trends, market demands, and emerging talent to maintain a competitive edge
Manage A&R department staff, including A&R coordinators, scouts, and assistants, and provide mentorship and guidance as needed
Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to foster relationships and identify new talent
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in music business, music production, or related field preferred
Proven experience as an A&R director or similar leadership role in the music industry
Strong network of contacts within the music industry, including artists, managers, agents, publishers, and record labels
Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills
Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines
Passion for music and commitment to nurturing artistic talent
Salary: $100,000 - $150,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
